Malaysia pushes sustainable tourism, deepens ASEAN–China ties

LANGKAWI:  Malaysia reaffirmed its commitment to sustainable tourism and stronger regional cooperation following the ASEAN–China Tourism Dialogue and related engagements with tourism stakeholders held in Langkawi, Minister of Culture Arts and Tourism (MOCAT) Datuk Tiong King Sing said today.

In his Facebook post,  Tiong said the gatherings underscored the importance of closer partnerships, meaningful dialogue and enhanced collaboration between ASEAN countries and China to advance responsible tourism development across the region.

“Through stronger collaboration, meaningful dialogue and closer partnerships, Malaysia remains committed to advancing sustainable tourism development and strengthening ASEAN–China tourism cooperation,” he said.

The minister also extended his gratitude to delegates, partners and industry representatives who attended the forum. “My sincere appreciation to all distinguished delegates, partners and friends from China, ASEAN Member States, and the international tourism industry for your continued support and commitment,” Datuk Tiong added.

The Langkawi meetings brought together government officials, tourism operators, and international stakeholders to discuss post-pandemic recovery, sustainable practices, and cooperative initiatives aimed at boosting connectivity and visitor confidence across ASEAN and China.
